Tend Health is a proudly New Zealand-owned primary healthcare and technology company. We operate The Doctors and Tend medical centres, along with online care, across Aotearoa.
Tend launched in October 2020 and quickly grew into one of New Zealand’s largest primary healthcare providers. In August 2026 we welcomed The Doctors and its 65 clinics into our group. Together we now care for more than 550,000 enrolled patients, in person and online, from Northland to Southland.
Our purpose is to help New Zealanders be the healthiest people in the world. Behind our group is a team of clinicians, technologists and healthcare experts. Having experienced the frustrations of traditional healthcare – long waits, fragmented information, heavy admin – we are building something modern, equitable and connected.
Our technology is developed in New Zealand. It improves access to care and helps clinicians deliver outstanding patient outcomes. Through the Tend app and website, Tend patients can book clinic or online appointments, manage medications, order repeat prescriptions and request medical certificates. They can also schedule immunisations and access online mental health support. With extended clinic hours and 24/7 online access to doctors, we fit around people’s lives.
Our shareholders include Ngāi Tahu Holdings, Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei, Nāti Growth, Ahuahu Group and other leading New Zealand investors. They share a long-term commitment to New Zealand primary care. We believe primary care is essential national infrastructure. Local ownership, long-term investment and strong clinical leadership matter.
We aim to be long-term custodians of practices that are important to their communities. Our goal is to preserve what makes each practice successful. We bring the investment, technology and scale to help it thrive for future generations of patients, clinicians and owners.
Our head office is in Tāmaki Makaurau. Our clinics deliver primary care through publicly funded services (PHO, ACC, MBIE Immigration Services) and private healthcare options.
